DESCRIPTION: Six operating power plants located within Arizona. Two of the facilities used pulverized coal for generating electricity, and four of the facilities used residual fuel, diesel fuel, or natural gas for generating electricity.
SCOPE OF SERVICES:
GEC conducted extensive Phase I Environmental Site Assessments for our client on six power plants in Arizona. The assessments were conducted within a short time period to meet the Client's needs, and they included evaluation of storage and disposal of fly ash and bottom ash; above-ground and underground storage tanks; disposal of cooling blow-down, boiler blow-down, and condenser water; waste accumulation areas; surface impoundments; landfills; and perched groundwater conditions which resulted from plant operations. GEC also evaluated the impacts from sandblasting operations, transformer releases, maintenance activities, and releases from fuel storage and distribution lines.
