DESCRIPTION: The Westgate City Center will become a super-regional destination, projected to attract approximately 22 million visitors annually. Upon completion, Westgate will include up to 6.5 million square feet of retail, entertainment, restaurants, office, residential, and hotels, making Westgate one of the largest commercial real estate developments in North America. Estimated cost for the complete buildout of the Westgate City Center is approximately $850 million. Anchoring the Westgate City Center is the Glendale Arena, home to the NHL's Phoenix Coyotes and the NLL's Arizona Sting, and a 320-room Renaissance Hotel with 80,000 sf convention center. Phase I of the Westgate City Center (approximately 500,000 sf of retail and loft office) is currently under construction.
SCOPE OF SERVICES:
Geotechnical
GEC conducted preliminary and final geotechnical investigations for these projects. GEC provided pavement section design recommendations for the proposed new pavements based on the existing subg foundation types, different bearing depths, and a wide range of loading conditions.
Construction Materials Testing
GEC has provided engineering technicians, special inspectors, and engineers to perform construction observation, testing and inspection services for mass grading; installation of a permanent soil-nail wall; foundation excavations; rebar placement for foundations, walls, columns, and decks; and inspection of structural concrete placement for foundations, walls, columns, and decks.
