Geotechnical
Soil and Foundation Investigations
Test drilling, soil/rock sampling, geologic evaluations, percolation testing, groundwater monitoring, geotechnical instrumentation, laboratory testing, engineering analysis, and technical reports.
Foundation Recommendations
Engineering analysis of various foundation types - conventional shallow footings, post-tensioned slabs, mat foundations, drilled piers, and piles, evaluating soil, rock, and groundwater conditions. Bearing capacity, settlement potential, and lateral load capacity.
Slope Stability Studies
Field investigation, instrumentation, shear strength testing, slope stability analyses, and recommendations for cut and fill slopes, temporary or permanent retaining walls, braced excavations, tied-back walls, anchors, etc.
Pavement Design and Evaluations
Initial design or forensic evaluations. Test drilling, coring pavements, core sampling, subgrade sampling, laboratory testing, reviewing traffic data, pavement design analysis, and technical reports. Recommendations for various deficiencies identified during construction such as low compaction, low oil content, aggregate outside of specifications, etc.
Percolation Testing
In situ testing for retention basins, drywells, and/or septic systems in open or lined holes. Laboratory permeability testing on soil samples. Subsurface disposal of water. Septic system explorations in accordance with state and local requirements.
Seismic Surveys
In situ testing for evaluating soundness and competency of subsurface soil and rock to evaluate excavation conditions and bearing conditions for foundations.
Subsidence / Earth Fissure Evaluations
Site reconnaissance; research of existing geologic information on historic groundwater levels, subsidence, and documented earth fissures; aerial photograph review; trenching to evaluate suspect fissures; engineering and geologic evaluation; and remedial recommendations.
Groundwater Monitoring
Installation of piezometers to evaluate groundwater levels, review of historic groundwater data to evaluate range of groundwater level fluctuation, pumping tests to evaluate aquifer characteristics, permeability testing, and evaluation of groundwater levels on proposed development.
Forensic Evaluations
Engineering observation of distress, crack monitoring, test drilling, coring of slabs and pavement, soil sampling and testing, manometer surveys, settlement and heave analyses, engineering analysis and evaluation, technical reports on potential causes of distress, and remedial repair recommendations. Insurance claims and evaluation.
Expert Witness
Conduct forensic evaluations, review existing data and reports, review other expert reports and opinions, consult with attorneys and adjusters, develop professional opinions, evaluate standard of care issues, depositions, and testimony in court.
